From May 25th to 28th, the 2021 China Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) Biomonitoring Standards and New Technology Exchange Seminar was held in Ji’an, Jiangxi. The seminar was hosted by the Science and Technology Promotion and Development Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and organized by the CERN Biological Branch of the State Key Laboratory of Vegetation and Environmental Change, Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The seminar set up 6 communication modules including new regional biological survey technology, underground ecology research methods, new biological monitoring specifications and data quality control, monitoring technology expert evaluation, installation and use of newly purchased instruments, and station sample site surveys. There are 36 conference reports in total.
About 100 first-line scientific research and monitoring personnel from more than 40 field stations across the country participated in the conference. LICA, as a professional eco-environmental instrument supplier and technical service provider, participated in the conference at the invitation of the organizer. It also exhibited related product posters such as the Canadian ABB (LGR) isotope analyzer, the American Resonon hyperspectral imager, and the SF-3500 series multi-channel soil gas flux measurement system.
The conference invited researcher Zhao Shidong from the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to give a report entitled 'Long-term Ecology Observation and Research', introducing the historical process of CERN's establishment and development and the major scientific research results achieved. Representatives from the Institute of Geographical Resources, Nantong University, Beijing Normal University, and the Institute of Botany participated in the teaching work. The lectures included the application of drones, ecological Internet of Things and other technologies in biological monitoring, watershed ecosystem monitoring, and regional biodiversity monitoring. Root system monitoring and research, flowering phenology monitoring data analysis and quality control, key points of biological data filling, micro-root canal installation specifications, etc.
During the meeting, General Manager Sun Baoyu of LICA gave a report on the new technology and application practice of plant ecosystem monitoring.
After the indoor lecture, all participants went to Qianyanzhou Subtropical Forest Ecosystem Observation and Research Station to investigate the long-term ecosystem observation sample plot. This seminar had an in-depth exchange of experience in biological monitoring and quality control, and achieved the expected training effect.
