From September 22 to 25, 2022, the 18th annual meeting of the China US Carbon Alliance was held at ChinaUniversityofGeosciences,Wuhan. The meeting was sponsored by the US China Carbon Consortium (USCCC) and China University of Geosciences, and co sponsored by the National Engineering Research Center for Geographic Information System. This annual meeting was held online, anwith a total of over 70 lectures by well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad, and a total number of online participants exceeding 4000. The conference held a variety of exchanges and discussions around the recording, observation, and simulation of carbon, nitrogen, energy, and water cycles in the context of climate change and urbanization, as well as their response to environmental and human activities.
This annual meeting of the China US Carbon Alliance has set up four sub venues, including Stanford University, Michigan State University, North Carolina State University, Washington State University, University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, CSIRO of Australia, National Environmental Research Institute of Japan, Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology More than 30 scholars from universities and research institutes at home and abroad, such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, focused on the theme of the conference, experts and scholars from different perspectives, conducted in-depth discussions on research progress in the field of global carbon, nitrogen and water cycle.
At the invitation of the organizer, LICA participated in this meeting. Dr. Hu Yongbo gave a report on 'The Application of Laser Technology in Carbon Cycle Monitoring', mainly introducing Picarro greenhouse gas analyzer, isotope analyzer, and applications. Dr. Zheng Ning gave a report on 'The Stereoscopic Monitoring Plan and Practice of Carbon Sources and Carbon Sinks in the Ecosystem', and displayed relevant products in the form of video, and conducted active academic exchanges with scholars at home and abroad.
The successful convening of this annual conference provides an open and cooperative academic exchange platform for people in the industry. During the conference, experts and scholars presented brilliant reports and discussed relevant issues warmly and deeply, further promoting the cutting-edge research on carbon, water, energy, and other biogeochemical cycles in terrestrial ecosystems, and contributing wisdom and strength to the development of this field, It also provides a correct scientific basis and direction for China's 'dual carbon' policy.
